Dr. Maria L. Martinez

Dr. Maria L. Martinez is a board-certified colorectal surgeon who has been part of the Theda Oaks Surgery Center and United Surgical Partners International team for two years.  She is fluent in both Spanish and English and is the only bilingual female board certified colorectal surgeon in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Martinez mission is truly aligned with that of Theda Oaks, which is to treat each patient and their family as if they were our own. Each patient, each family, each and every time

Dr. Martinez received her general surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas.  She completed her colon and rectal surgery fellowship at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, which has been ranked the #1 hospital in the United States for Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Surgery for more than ten years.

Dr. Martinez brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience as well as a love of caring for her patients. She is very active in her community while volunteering at the local Red Cross. She is also active in her church and is a fitness enthusiast that enjoys family time, including her pet Labrador.
